September 14, 1987 - “Heaven Is A Place On Earth”/ “We Can Change” was released in the U.S.
The first single off of the album Heaven On Earth, the song hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 5, 1987.
A month later it hit number one in the UK where it held the top spot on the chart for two weeks.
The song reached number one in Switzerland, Ireland, Sweden, South Africa and Norway, reached number three in Germany and Canada, number two in Australia, and number six in Italy.
“Heaven” was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
